IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE)
IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is one of the largest international professional organizations dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists, and inspiring girls around the world to follow their academic interests in a career in engineering. The WIE in IEEE initiative focuses on bringing together and highlighting all women in tech activities happening across IEEE.
MISSION AND VISION
Our goal is to facilitate the recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines globally. We envision a vibrant community of IEEE women and men collectively using their diverse talents to innovate for the benefit of humanity.
IEEE WIE strives to –
- Facilitate the development of programs and activities that promote the entry into, and retention of, women in engineering programs
- Administer the IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program to mentor young women in junior and high schools
- Provide opportunities for women engineering students to develop leadership skills that can be utilized in their future lives.
WIE Symposium is a trademark event of IEEE RIT Student Branch WIE Affinity Group. It is held annually on the occasion of International Women’s Day to celebrate the achievements made by the eminent women of our society and to inspire the young ladies to dream big, fly high and leave their mark in every field. The two-day Symposium, which saw thousands of students and faculties taking part, took place on 8th and 9th of March 2017.
